Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) promotes 3rd Emirates Energy Award (EEA) 2017 in Istanbul

Istanbul, Turkey, 18 October 2016

Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) held today (18 October 2016) a press conference in Istanbul to promote the third session of the Emirates Energy Award (EEA) 2017 that will be organised under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai under the theme ‘Innovative Solutions for Clean Energy’.

Speakers at the press conference were HE Ahmad B. Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of DSCE, Vice Chairman of Executive Committee of EEA, Mr. Taher Diab, Strategy & Planning Senior Director of DSCE, Secretary General of EEA and Mr. Ali Al Suwaidi, Manager, Corporate Communication. Also, representatives from universities, scientific research institutes in the fields of environment and energy in Turkey were present in the press briefing along members of Turkish media.

In his opening speech, HE Ahmad B. Al Muhairbi said EEA is held since its inception under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. He emphasised that DSCE seeks to promote a culture of excellence, sustainability and innovation in energy management as well as enhance efficiency and environmental protection. Also, HE Al Muhairbi stressed in his speech that Turkish energy-related projects have made strong strides in a short period of time while catering to the needs of the industrial sector in the country.

“Turkey represents a model in the world in energy generation technology as it boasts a wide group of innovators and researchers working in generating clean energy as part of the country’s drive to reduce dependence on conventional sources of energy. In addition to that, the country’s efforts in achieving sustainable development in all aspects of life will enrich participations in EEA and increase competitions among technologies and innovations,” pointed out HE Al Muhairbi while addressing the media gathering.

In his closing speech, HE Al Muhairbi said that EEA offers a great chance for companies, institutions, researchers in Turkey to present their technologies and innovative solutions by being nominated to different categories of the award.

Turkey boasts a global reputation for using advanced technologies and deploying environmental sustainability solutions among the series of projects it is part of within the country or in other African or Asian countries. These projects contribute in using highest standards to preserve the environment and protect energy resources in addition of adopting innovation and creative solutions to ensure better living conditions for current and generations to come in the world.

EEA has 10 categories which are: Energy Efficiency-Public & Private Sectors (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Energy Efficiency -Private Sector (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Large Energy Project (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Small Energy Project (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Connecting Solar Power to Buildings Project for Large Projects (more than 500 KW) (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Connecting Solar Power to Buildings Project for Small Projects (less than 500 KW) (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Education and Capacity Building (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Research and Development (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), Young Professional Energy Award (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), and Special Recognition Award.
