As part of a series of outreach programmes to promote the Emirates Energy Award (EEA) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, the Supreme Council of Energy for Dubai has organised the first regional roadshow in Casablanca, Morocco.
The Supreme Council held a press conference in the city and was attended by representatives from media, universities, and scientific research institutions.
Representatives of the Supreme Council presented a visual overview on the EEA, including details about the award, its goals as well as basic principles, categories of the award, and rules for entry. The Supreme Council representatives declared that the deadline for the submissions of applications has been extended to 30 June, 2013.
“The EEA is one of the most significant initiatives launched by the the Supreme Council to promote sustainable development, raise awareness on energy-efficiency and its critical role in developing communities,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council.
“The Award is a great opportunity for individuals and organisations to showcase their projects and exchange expertise. The EEA aims to honour outstanding projects and recognise best practices in the fields of energy efficiency,” added Al Tayer.
“The MENA region places the highest emphasis on traditional, alternative and renewable energy projects. Morocco is taking concerted steps to strengthen its energy sector, especially in renewable energy. By hosting the roadshow in the country, we are promoting the EEA to attract the largest possible nominations, and to encourage companies and individuals to present their projects for this award. The award will provide a strong opportunity for exchange of expertise in the energy and renewable energy sector,” said HE Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council.
“One of the categories of the EEA is education and scientific research, and it was great to see many representatives of scientific research institutions attending the press conference, to learn about the potential opportunities for university students in Morocco to present their projects,” added Al Muhairbi.
The delegation at the press conference included Omar Ahmed Al Qorashi, Vice Chairman of the Marketing Committee, Taher Diab, Secretary General of the EAA, and Ali Al Suwaidi, Corporate Communications Director of the Supreme Council.
